Visiting Dutch performance/video artist Bart Majoor (Major B) was featured in an Upgrade! International
event at Wits Digital Arts, Johannesburg, South Africa, on Friday 11 April.

Major B performs intensely rhythmic sequences, using his body as
an additional screen for projections of his pre-prepared video loops;
while supplementing his audio track with what he calls his
"chocolate language" of scat sounds and chants through a live
microphone.

He often interacts with the subject matter of his video loops: chasing
dogs, dodging traffic, and grasping at flocks of gulls. The effect is
bizarre and humorous.

Animals, both dead and alive feature prominently in the imagery
of his video loops. Why animals?, he was asked. It is because
I am fascinated by how we humans interact with other species, he
says. We love some of them as our pets, but we kill others to eat and drive them down on the road with our cars.
