On face of it, creating an anatomically correct model of Pac-man’s skull is a rather eccentric occupation. Pac-man’s design was never intended to reference anything in the world; he was a creature of an entirely imaginary place - the 2D video game world, an enclosed expanse without volume or depth or digestion.  Pac-man was brought into being to function in this world, an arrangement of pixels pulsating around a maze on a screen.  What happens when a creature like this  is given a skull? He is grounded, anchored, earthed in a way that completely transforms our perception of the original game.  The Cyberworld has been reverse-engineered into flesh. For this reason, the result is not just amusing: it makes us a bit uncomfortable. That abstract gobbling up of pixels that was so strangely satisfying (even addictive) has been transformed in our imagination into ferocious consumption. The "real" Pac-man, who we imagine from the evidence of the skull the way paleontologists visualise Mrs Ples from a collection of bone fragments,  is a creature closer to Tyrannosaurus Rex than it is to the Telly Tubbies.
